GT in the Arts:
The above Adams12 website has information on GT in the Arts.
Often a student that has any GT identification will display behavior in art that is gifted and talented:
- thinks more abstractly, can apply ideas from their lives more readily,
- thinks "above and beyond," can have difficulty staying organized or in the present, would rather work deeper on each topic/ project.
- A GT designation helps the teacher form a part of the students' makeup and needs.
- Each year an experienced art committee reviews a body of evidence to see if a student is GT in the Arts.
- If your student is GT in the Arts, funds may be available to help your student exceed outside the classroom- see your art teacher/ or GT coordinator about this.
- Also- this designation can help a parent learn more about their student, as well as help the student learn more about themselves.
- If you are wondering if you are/ your student is "GT in the Arts" please click on the website to learn more about putting together a body of work for submission in April. All the details and deadlines are listed on the Adams12 GT website. Parents/ students can get all the needed info together and submit electronically: https://www.adams12.org/gifted-advanced-academics/visual-arts-specific-talent-aptitude
